Why is Hong Kong regarded as a tax haven?

In the traditional sense, Hong Kong is not a tax haven. However, the region's appealing tax structure — simple and low tax rates — gives it a competitive advantage over other regions.

There are only three direct taxes collected by the city:

  • Profits Tax - A type of tax levied on all corporations.
  • Salaries Tax - A tax levied on the earnings of an employee.
  • Property Tax - A tax levied on people who rent out property in Hong Kong company.
